How Chaldean Numerology Works – Step-by-Step with Examples
Understanding how Chaldean numerology works allows you to calculate your own numbers by hand. This guide walks you through each major number type with worked examples so you can verify your results from our calculators.
Step 1: The Chaldean Alphabet Chart
First, you need to know how letters map to numbers in the Chaldean system (unlike Pythagorean, this is NOT sequential):
1 = A, I, J, Q, Y | 2 = B, K, R | 3 = C, G, L, S | 4 = D, M, T | 5 = E, H, N, X | 6 = U, V, W | 7 = O, Z | 8 = F, P
Step 2: Calculate Your Name Number (Outer Personality)
Take your full name, assign Chaldean values to every letter, and sum them. Reduce to a compound number, then to a single digit.
Example: RAHUL SHARMA
R(2) + A(1) + H(5) + U(6) + L(3) = 17 | S(3) + H(5) + A(1) + R(2) + M(4) + A(1) = 16
Total = 17 + 16 = 33 → Compound 33 → Single 6
Step 3: Calculate Soul Urge (Vowels Only)
Extract only the vowels from your name and sum their Chaldean values. This reveals your inner desires.
Example: RAHUL SHARMA (vowels: A, U, A, A)
A(1) + U(6) + A(1) + A(1) = 9
Step 4: Calculate Personality Number (Consonants Only)
Extract only the consonants and sum their values. This is how others perceive you.
Consonants: R, H, L, S, H, R, M
R(2) + H(5) + L(3) + S(3) + H(5) + R(2) + M(4) = 24 → Single 6
Step 5: Calculate Destiny Number (Date of Birth)
Sum ALL digits in the full date of birth (DD + MM + YYYY) and reduce.
Example: 15 March 1988 = 1+5+0+3+1+9+8+8 = 35 → Compound 35 → Single 8
Step 6: Compound Numbers Are Important
Unlike Pythagorean numerology, the Chaldean system gives great significance to compound numbers (numbers above 9). In our example, 33 is a very different energy from 24 even though both reduce to 6. Compound numbers provide a more nuanced, complete picture of a person's energy.
